Instructions for the safe exchange of electronic currencies
Updated 04/05/2021
Any exchanger is people who run it and, therefore, it is impossible to find out what goals they are pursuing. Therefore, you must always be on the lookout and follow the instructions proven over the years:
- Start by defining the domain of the site
- Determine the age of the domain
- Compare rates
- Look for reviews
- Check directories
- Check contacts
- Try to make an exchange (if you really need)
- Read tips for the future
- Leave your opinion about this instruction
If it does not become clearer to you which site you are dealing with, then just try to wait, observe for a while. You may notice something that you did not notice right away, and this will be critical.
In any case, you can ask us to check the site you are interested in.
Determining the site domain
Very often, people don't know the difference between a site name and its domain. The domain of the site is its unique address on the Internet, while the name of the site is a phrase invented by its owner. Sites can have the same name, but domains will always be different. For example: "Google" is the name and "google.ru" is the domain.
You can find out the domain of the site by looking at the site address bar in the browser (it is usually located under the site tab bar), it is after https:// (or http://), and before the first "/" (forward slash), if there is one.
Determining the age of a domain
To determine the age of the domain, so-called whois services are used. These services show a variety of information about domains, including the date of their registration.
To find a suitable service for the domain you are interested in, you need to copy part of the domain, starting from its end to the first point that comes across. After that, on the site of the search engine, enter a query that will consist of the copied part of the domain, and separated by a space, the word: "whois". Go to one of the found sites and specify the entire domain in the appropriate search form.
If there is information for this domain, then in it you need to find one of the words: registered, created, etc., after which there will be a date, this will be the date of domain registration.
If there is no information, then you need to repeat the search for whois service, but you will already need to copy part of the domain, starting from its end and up to the second point that comes across.
If in this case there is no information, then most likely this domain is free, which means that it is better not to deal with such an exchanger at all.
Knowing the date of domain registration is not difficult to determine its age. The younger the age, the more likely the site is fraudulent.
If this procedure seems complicated to you, then you can contact us for help, and over time you will learn how to determine the age of the domain yourself.
Comparison of rates
Fraudsters often set very favorable exchange rates so that more people can be defrauded in a short time.
Compare rates in the forward and reverse (if any) direction, with rates in other exchangers found in these directories. If they are significantly more profitable than the rest, then there is a high probability that this is a scammer.
Search reviews
Go to the site of the search engine, enter the site domain in the search bar and the word "reviews" separated by a space, or use the built-in function of our widget.
Carefully check the domain you are looking for with the domain that the search engine found, they must match exactly. One of the tricks of the scammers is that they deliberately register domains that are similar to the domains of sites that have already proven themselves. This leads to the fact that the search shows reviews about a reputable site, and not about a scammer. This has then sad consequences.
Look at how many sites have reviews, how similar they are to each other, who the author is, what they say, etc.
Pay attention to the absence of bad reviews. Good reviews can be bought, and bad reviews are written by people who have encountered problems. It is also important to understand that bad reviews can be written in order to harm the reputation of the exchanger. Such reviews need to be carefully analyzed.
If there are no bad reviews or none at all, this does not mean that everything is fine. Bad reviews may come later, try waiting a few days.
Do not take into account the reviews that the site places on itself, they may be fictitious. Give preference to reviews on reputable sites, and even better on those sites where the reliability of reviews is checked.
If, you find it difficult to understand all this, you can turn to us for help, and eventually you will learn to understand everything yourself.
Checking for presence in directories
There are sites on the Internet that contain lists of exchangers. Such sites are called directories, and they are of two types: official and unofficial.
The more directories such a site contains, the better. However, the complete absence in directories does not mean anything bad.
Official directories
These include sites of payment systems, the currency exchange of which takes place in the exchanger. There are such official directories:
- Automatic exchangers Webmoney
- Exchangers specializing in the input (output) of Webmoney
- Perfect Money Certified Exchangers
- Official exchangers NixMoney
The presence of the exchanger in one of the directories indicates that the payment system trusts him to some extent.
Unofficial directories
This is all the rest (except the official ones). Usually such directories are called monitors of exchangers. Below is a list of the sites of such directories (in alphabetical order) :
The more directories such a exchanger contains, the better. A good sign is the presence of a site in at least 90% of such directories.
Checking contacts
It's good when the site has many different ways of contacting support, and they work. Check, if possible, the operability of each of them.
Do not use your personal e-mail, phone, etc. for verification. Use the test for such cases, it helps avoid potential spam, hacking attempts, threats, and so on. Just in case, use a VPN connection when you visit the site.
If you check the connection through instant messengers, then very carefully check the logins on the site and in the messenger, there are clones.
If the site has an online chat, then try asking a question to the chat operator, see how he answers and if he answers at all. Any question can be, even if you already know the answer. Perhaps the manner of communication and the operator's answers will alert you. If the operator offers you to make an exchange via chat or somewhere else, without creating an application on the site, then it is very likely that they want to deceive you. The site exists for that, so that exchanges are made only through it, and not through 3rd persons.
If the site contains buttons of directories in which this site is supposedly present, then do not be lazy and check if this is really so. Go to directory sites and see if any of them mentions the domain of this site.
Right exchange
If you still have a desire to make an exchange, then do it right.
Determine for yourself such an amount of money that you will not mind losing. If the exchanger requires more amount, then this is an occasion to think about whether it is worth continuing.
During the exchange, fix all the stages using site snapshot, photographing or something else. Record everything that is possible, how you filled out the application, what details you specified, the number and time of creating the application, to which details you need to transfer money, etc. Also, save all emails from the exchanger. All this is necessary so that you would not be told later that you, somewhere, made a mistake, the money was sent, and they can no longer be returned.
If nothing alarmed you during the creation of the application, then try to pay for it and wait for the receipt of funds. If there are any difficulties, and you cannot make a payment, then perhaps you should refuse to exchange.
If you pay for an application you have to transfer money to Webmoney wallet, you can make such additional checks. Pay attention to the recipient's passport and his BL (business level). The certificate must be at least personal, and BL is greater than 0. At the same time, you need to pay attention to the presence or absence of claims, they should not be at all. If they are, you may also have problems.
If you pay for an application you have to transfer money to Perfect Money wallet, you can make such additional checks. Pay attention to the TS (Trust Score, analogue BL in Webmoney) and presence of verification. The account must be verified, and TS is greater than 0.
Do not rush to close the page with the exchange request after payment. Take a snapshot of the site page or take a picture of it, this is necessary in order to record the fact and time of payment, amount, etc. Check, just in case, whether all the information on this page matches the one you specified when creating the application. If the data is different, then immediately contact the support service of the site.
On a note
Never exchange a large amount of money at once, you can lose everything. Break the amount you have into such amounts that you will not mind losing. If there is no time to deal with small exchanges, then it is better to exchange in the exchanger that you fully trust. Losses due to a less favorable exchange rate may be insignificant in comparison with the loss of all the money.
If you are offered to make an exchange through some means of communication, although you did not have such a need, then be careful. You can be written by scammers who hacked or somehow gained access to the means of communication of the people on whose behalf they write. If you are interested in such an exchange, then let them be the first to transfer money to you, and then you.
If you understand that you have become a victim of a scammer, then immediately contact the support service of the payment system (except for cryptocurrencies) in which you transferred money to scammers. After that, write reviews about this scammer on the Internet.
Earnings on exchanges
From time to time, various instructions for making money on exchanges appear on the Internet, which describe step by step what and where to change in order to make a profit as a result. Sometimes, such instructions are presented as a job as a trader.
Such instruction is a fraud! The problem is that currency rates change very often, therefore, while such an instruction is written, it will already be necessary to write a new one. Even if a profitable exchange offer appears somewhere, due to the large number of people who want to exchange, the reserve of the desired currency will quickly end and the offer will cease to be relevant.
If you still believe in easy money, then use this instruction and carefully check the sites before entrusting them with your money.
